Projects Wanted For Kenya / South Africa Copro

Join Discop Africa for KENYA / SOUTH AFRICA COPRO to be launched at the Nairobi-based KALASHA INTERNATION FILM & TV FESTIVAL & MARKET (26/30 October).

Co-sponsored by the Kenya Film Commission, the French Embassy in Kenya and the organizers of the Abidjan and Johannesburg-based DISCOP AFRICA market and coproduction forum, this initiative is aimed at facilitating relations between independent content producers from Kenya and South Africa.

The KENYA / SOUTH AFRICA COPRO initiative will seek TEN film and television projects with the right ingredients to be co-developed and co-funded by producers from these two countries.

Selected projects at any stage of development or production will be pitched in front of a meticulously chosen panel of South African and Kenyan development, commissioning, production and distribution executives and other key players driving film & television content business across the Continent.

They will be seeking fresh talent, innovative concepts and captivating stories that could also help foster stronger coproduction relationships between Kenya and South Africa.

The pitches will take place:

In Nairobi on Thursday 29 October in the context of the inaugural edition of the KALASHA INTERNATIONAL FILM & TV MARKET,

In Johannesburg, on Thursday 5 November in the context of the 11th edition of the DISCOP AFRICA market and coproduction forum.

Following each pitch, the key industry experts sitting on the Nairobi and Johannesburg panels will then provide guidance and recommendations to the projects initiators. Development and coproduction opportunities are to be anticipated as producers will also get the opportunity to attract financing, partnerships and distribution deals.

Projects must be submitted by Friday 16 October and a committee of industry specialists will select those:

That are best equipped and suited for attracting co-production investment

That are original, creative and relevant in Africa and the International market

That clearly demonstrate how the co-production is structured and presented

That can be adapted for distribution across multiple digital platforms

The ten winning candidates will be notified by Wednesday 21 October and will then be entitled to the following privileges:

Should one of your projects be eligible, you can return this mail with SEND APPLICATION FORM in the subject box, and in the meantime prepare the following:

A one-page synopsis of the project

One page of further background information and/or visual treatment of the project

A brief summary of the co-production plan, including the production timeline

An updated CV of the producer and director, including complete contact details

A preliminary budget and proposed financing plan

Links to previous works and promo of proposal, if available
