Astro Introduces first 4K HDR Broadcast of UEFA EURO 2020 and Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 in Malaysia

Stream Live UEFA EURO 2020 matches on Astro GO with Interactive Mode

Sports fans in Malaysia are set to enjoy the ultimate viewing experience when Astro debuts its live sports broadcast in stunning 4K HDR (High Dynamic Range) and Dolby Atmos on the Ultra Box.

These features are a first in Malaysia and will make this year's biggest sporting events - UEFA EURO 2020 and Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, even more immersive and exciting for sports fans. With all UEFA EURO 2020 matches in 4K HDR, every moment comes to life with brighter and more accurate colour; and better contrast. Live matches beyond the quarter finals will also feature Dolby Atmos, to bring the audio realism of being at the stadium right into your living room.

Fans watching UEFA EURO 2020 matches on the go via Astro's streaming app, Astro GO, can also expect an enhanced viewing treat with an all-new Interactive Mode. Astro GO's new experience, designed specifically for live sports, displays interactive overlays for fans to access instant highlights, match statistics, player statistics, fixtures of upcoming matches, and more.

Fans can now watch all UEFA EURO 2020 matches in stunning colour and contrast, while Dolby Atmos will immerse our Sports Pack customers right in the middle of the games they love. Selected Tokyo 2020 events will also be in 4K HDR. These new innovations provide more value to our Sports Pack customers and the most premium big screen viewing experience. In the coming months, those with Ultra Box can look forward to more 4K HDR and Dolby Atmos supported content.

We know, of course, that Sports fans are deeply passionate. Interactive Mode on Astro GO takes their live sports viewing experience to the next level, enabling our customers to re-play key moments like goals, chances and highlights all indicated by icons on the graphics timeline during live matches, as well as accessing match and player statistics; and match schedules.

Over time, we plan to introduce 4K HDR, Dolby Atmos and Interactive Mode to the football leagues currently being broadcast on Astro.

To access 4K HDR content, an HDR-capable TV that supports HDR (HLG format) is required, which is automatically enabled when detected by the Ultra Box. Learn more at www.astro.com.my/ultra.

All Sports Pack customers can experience Interactive Mode on Astro GO during live UEFA EURO 2020 matches. Look out for the Interactive Mode button on the programme details of each match to activate the feature. Experience Interactive Mode on the Astro GO app or www.astrogo.com.my.

UEFA EURO 2020 kicks off on 12 June with the opening match between Turkey and Italy at 3AM (MYT). Ultra Box customers with Sports Pack will get the best experience on two UHD channels (CH781 and CH782), both of which will show live matches and repeats in 4K HDR. Sports pack customers can stream live on Astro GO or watch on the two dedicated HD channels (CH 810 and CH809) that will also be showing a great selection of qualifying matches, highlights, friendly matches and magazine shows.
