COLOGNE, Germany, ANGA COM, June 6, 2016 - VOO, a leading Belgian cable operator and one of the fastest-growing cable operators in Europe, is deploying the Cisco cBR-8 converged cable access platform (CCAP) to give its residential and business customers faster broadband services.
VOO provides digital television services to its customers, including HD and VoD, as well as Internet, fixed telephone, and mobile phone services.
The Cisco cBR-8 with DOCSIS 3.1 broadband will help VOO prepare to increase its cable network capacity to support the demand for more Internet video and the growth of connected devices. Dimension Data Belgium has been enlisted to stage, configure, install and maintain the Cisco cBR-8 for VOO.
DOCSIS 3.1 enables high-bandwidth Internet services to be delivered over existing cable TV infrastructure. It lays the groundwork for a new generation of cable services that meet consumer demands for more and faster broadband connections.
CableLabs, the cable industry's nonprofit research and development lab, is working on next steps to further evolve the DOCSIS 3.1 specification with new features. They recently unveiled the vision for Full Duplex DOCSIS' technology, which will deliver up to 10 gigabits per second (Gbps) upstream and downstream traffic using the same spectrum at the same time, doubling efficiency and capacity.

VOO is focused on evolving and scaling its network to cost-effectively satisfy needs for high-quality video services over high-speed bandwidth, said Yves Padrines, vice president, Global Service Provider EMEAR, Cisco. Our cBR-8 is DOCSIS 3.1 ready, and is openly designed to support new features such as Full Duplex DOCSIS that will allow operators like VOO to offer equal speeds in upstream and downstream.
