RT is now the No. channel for 5-4s in Ireland

RT 2 is now the No.2 channel for 15-34s in Ireland 12/02/2015: RT 2 is now the No.2 channel in Ireland for 15-34s all day & peak-time thanks to a strong line-up of programming, including a brand new series of The Notorious, Revenge, The Golden Globes, Norahs Travellers Academy and The RBS Six Nations.

Since the beginning of 2015 RT 2 has increased its peak-time audience share for 15-34s by 11% from 7.9% to 8.8% year-on-year. RT One remains Ireland's No.1 channel for 15 34s.

RT 2 was re-launched in September 2014 with a new look and a brand new channel identity, creating a distinctive, youthful and relevant public service channel which entertains, educates and informs Ireland's under 35s. RT 2 Channel Controller, Bill Malone stated at time that, The ambition for RT 2 is to become the channel for the under 35s and those who think young.

Conor McGregor's The Notorious in particular has proven hugely popular with younger viewers attracting an average audience of over 160,000 along with a further 125,287 catching up on the RT Player. The six-part series follows McGregor and his meteoric rise within the UFC, using exclusive behind-the-scenes footage with the most exciting sports star of the moment as he gets even closer to becoming UFC world champion.

Speaking about the performance, Bill Malone said: "This is a great result for RT 2 during what is a hugely competitive time in the Irish television market. Last year we overtook our nearest rivals to become the no.2 channel for 15-24s and now we have done the same for 15-34s. The continued success for RT 2 has been based around creating a compelling schedule for younger viewers and those who think young, with Irish content, Irish voices and Irish stories at its heart.

The great results so far in 2015 look set to continue as RT 2 broadcast Ireland's defence of the RBS 6 Nations and the return of Champions League, along with new series of Don't Tell The Bride, The Unemployables, and the gritty US drama, American Crime, while there will be a one hour special with Hozier when the music series Other Voices returns in March.

From comedy to drama, from reality series to documentaries and from live music to live sports, RT 2 delivers an exciting mix of home-produced shows, acquisitions, movies and live sports events.
