Orlando Pirates news: Khoza assures Micho of Bucs future

Orlando Pirates chairman Irvin Khoza has given coach Milutin Sredojevic his stamp of approval, despite another trophyless season at the club.

The Buccaneers have gone a full five years since last hoisting silverware the last two coming under the Serb's watch.

However, there has been a notable improvement in the club's performances since the coach arrived for a second stint, in the wake of its worst league finish in the PSL era 11th place in the 2016/17 season.

Orlando Pirates on an upward curve under MichoUnder Micho , Pirates finished second in back-to-back campaign, securing a spot in the Caf Champions League on both occasions.

Khoza was quoted by TimesLive, confirming that the 49-year-old, who is in the third and final year of his contract, was here to stay.

Micho is remaining as the coach of Orlando Pirates because he has done a good job with his assistant coaches.

If we played our game well against Cape Town City, we would be talking a different story now. We are happy with the performance of the team last season.

It was his second season at the club and it's not easy to win something because this league is competitive.

Pirates have been linked with Maritzburg United duo Fortune Makaringe and Siphesihle Ndlovu, as well as former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Pule Ekstein.

According to Khoza, transfer movements are set to be announced on Tuesday, 11 June.

The club is set to welcome back its players for preseason preparations towards the end of the month, with the Carling Black Label Cup fixture against Chiefs the only fixture yet to be confirmed.
