The inquiry into the Marlow Film Studios proposal will start next week.

Image: Marlow Film Studios Following a lengthy planning process which included revisions aimed at answering local objections over infrastructure, proposals for a £3.5 billion studio complex at a former quarry were rejected by the Buckinghamshire County Council Strategic Sites Committee last year.

The development had received backing from a number of industry figures, including James Cameron, the Oscar-winning director of Titanic and Aliens, who penned a letter of support suggesting the site could become a European home for his business, LIGHTSTORM 3D.

The company behind the project appealed to the UK Planning Inspectorate and an inquiry was approved in October, calling for all evidence to be submitted by December 17th.

The Public Inquiry into full planning permission for production space and supporting buildings for screen-based media and associated services/industries will begin on 21st January, following the appointment of inspector K McDonald MSc, MRTPI.

Proceedings will take place over 17 days at Buckinghamshire County Council's High Wycombe offices, after which it will be considered by the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government.
