With the Canes set to start Round 3 of the Stanley Cup playoffs, the MIX Mornings crew upped the ante so a listener could win tickets. On Thursday, May 18, 2023, MIX Mornings' Kyle, Bryan and Sarah traveled to Polar Ice in Raleigh for the KBS Shootout.

The fun, sponsored by Carolina Ale House, took place at Polar Ice on Thursday, May 18, 2023.
WRAL-FM Promotions Manager Shelby Lloyd explained the gist of the fun, which was sponsored the Carolina Ale House, the Carolina Hurricanes official Playoff watch party headquarters.
Listeners texted in to join team Kyle, Bryan, or Sarah, said Lloyd. We then selected one listener for each team. Kyle, Bryan, and Sarah then took turns shooting on the goalie. When they miss, they're out. The last skater standing wins a pair of tickets to game two of the Eastern Conference Finals for their teammate! Each runner up wins a $100 gift card to Carolina Ale House.
The MIX Mornings team laced up their skates and took on the goalie, Carolina Hurricanes PA Announcer Wade Minter.
