AES 2017: sE 2200, V7x & V7 MC1 (Video)

Refined version of popular mic revealed along with new dynamic mic products

sE Electronics were out in force at the AES Convention in New York, showing three new microphone products: the new and updated 2200 large-diaphragm condenser, the V7x dynamic instrument mic and the V7 MC1 capsule for Shure wireless systems.

The sE2200 is a refined and updated version of the company's first big hit, the 2200a. The new version uses the same handcrafted capsule, discrete class-A circuitry and custom transformer as the previous versions but also offers improved clarity, lower noise, new pad and filter options to increase versatility, and improved fit and finish, claim SE. The sE2200 ships standard with sE's Isolation Pack shock mount with adjustable pop filter and mic stand thread adapter, while the V7 X includes a mic clip, zipper pouch, spare black windscreen, and thread adapter. It will be available in the coming weeks and will cost $299 USD / 289 EUR.

Next up is the V7 X, a brand-new sibling to sE's V7 handheld dynamic, highly regarded for its high-fidelity sound and superior off-axis rejection. While the V7 is intended for vocals, the V7 X's specialized capsule's aluminum voice coil and acoustic design have been specifically tailored for instrumental use, with a lowered resonance and extended frequency response, ideal for use on snares, toms, electric and acoustic guitars, brass instruments, and more. It will be available everywhere by early November for $129 USD / 119 EUR.

Finally, sE have also revealed a wireless version of their V7 dynamic microphone, intended for use with compatible Shure handheld transmitters. Featuring the same custom-built aluminium voice coil, all-metal construction, patented integrated capsule suspension and supercardioid pickup pattern as its wired sibling, the V7 MC1 is intended to provide the same levels of high-fidelity sound, low handling noise and extreme feedback rejection in an industry-standard wireless format.

sE says, Though the V7 has already been rapidly embraced by a number of incredible vocalists, we always knew a wireless version would be most appealing for many singers. The V7 MC1 exists for those who are comfortable with their choice in handheld transmitters, but want to improve the fidelity of their on-stage vocals. We feel very confident that the V7 MC1 can take them there - as well as make their FOH engineer's job that much easier. The V7 MC1 is now shipping worldwide, costing $129 USD / $119 EUR. It ships standard with a red internal windscreen, as well as a spare black internal windscreen if a subtler appearance is desired.
