Cherry Audio up the Voltage to v1.3.14

Waves plug-ins are now compatible, and new modules for Voltage Modular are announced

Software modular manufacturers Cherry Audio have announced version 1.3.14 of their Voltage Modular system. The Zoom setting is now sticky and is remembered between sessions, and Waves plug-ins are now supported via the Plug-in Host and Mini Plug-in Host modules, as these now load multiple embedded plug-in files. In the Module Designer, which has also reached version 1.3.14, tool tips can now be turned off with a new preference, polyphony can be set in the test app, and source code can now be compiled with embedded Unicode characters embedded.

Cherry have also introduced two new modules: the ESP-20 processor and the Hex Phaser. The first of these, as detailed in a video on the Cherry Audio site, recreates the External Signal Processor section of the Korg MS20 synth in software, including low- and high-cut filters, gate and trigger outputs with a threshold setting, an envelope follower and the handy frequency-to-voltage (ie. external audio-to-CV) converter.

The Hex Phaser, meanwhile, is a flexible stereo phaser that offers CV control over many aspects of its design, including activating and deactivating the six all-pass filters that create the phasing effects, plus their bandwidth, sweep rates and depth, and the position of internal feedback path. Finally, Cherry Audio have also announced (and are selling via their on-line shop) a plug-in bundle covering the basics of modular synthesis in 16 compact modules, from Voltage Modular developer Benard. The Mini Modules Bundle includes three LFOs, an envelope generator with an integrated VCA, multi-mode filter, mixer, 16-step trigger sequencer, eight-step CV sequencer and much more.

The ESP-20 costs $10, the Hex Phaser $15 and the Benard Mini Modules bundle $40; all are available to download from Cherry Audios web site.
