Talk radio station Power 98.7 will be added to the DStv audio package on 26 May 2015, making it available to a larger audience outside of Gauteng.

Prospective Power 98.7 listeners outside Gauteng will now have access to the daily discussions on pertinent, relevant and topical issues by some of the country s leading presenters. Less than two years old, the young station continues to redefine talk radio, a fact recently reaffirmed by its 16 MTN Radio Awards 2015 nominations.

The decision to expand the station s reach was informed by our long term goal of providing all South Africans with real-time access to Power 98.7 s compelling content. We believe that the current discourse that South Africans are engaged in should not only be confined to Gauteng, and being on DStv will help us to achieve this objective. We are proud to partner with MultiChoice and delighted that they share our vision of providing a platform that will shape and influence the national narrative, said Andile Khumalo, managing director: Power 98.7.

Khumalo says that Power 98.7 has grown from strength to strength since its inception, and the regional demographics of visitors to its website is indicative to the demand for Power 98.7 outside the Gauteng Province.

We receive approximately 60,000 unique visitors to the website, and an average of 86 000 audio streaming listeners month on month. These visitors and listeners are from all over the world with the majority being South African. We currently have a Twitter following of over 79 000 followers. The partnership with DStv enables us to spread our tentacles to provide this growing listenership with compelling content, said Khumalo.

Power 98.7 will be available in South Africa and Lesotho on DStv channel 889 to customers on DStv Premium, Extra, Compact, Family, Access and EasyView as well as on the Indian and Portuguese packages.
