Custom Consoles announces the completion of technical furniture projects for Radio T l vision Suisse (RTS). These include six desks for a radio news control room at the RTS radio facility in Lausanne. A second Module-R desk for a colour-grading suite plus 22 custom-designed height-adjustable edit suite desks have also been provided at the networks headquarters in Geneva.
We are very pleased to have been selected for these projects, comments Sales Manager Gary Fuller. A long-established Custom Consoles customer, RTS already has a large Module-R dual-desk ingest news ingest suite, nine edit-suite desks, a grading suite desk and a MediaWall monitor display mounting system.
The radio news control room comprises three workstations. Largest of this group is a triple-operator U-shaped desk from the Custom Consoles MDesk Technical range, visually linked to the news presentation studio by a large window. The desk houses three audio mixing panels embedded in the work surface.
An additional desk in the control room, designed for single-operator use, is used for control of the streaming radio-news-related video to the internet. A third desk, from the MDesk Technical range, is a double-sided unit for use by journalists and auxiliary staff.
In the adjacent room is a 2x1.75 metre L-shaped desk with an integral audio mixer plus two rectangular monitor display screens on Ergotron operator-adjustable arms. The Ergotron arms are mounted at the rear of most desk positions. Each desk is finished in black with a light-grey worktop.
The 22 edit suite desks provided for RTS Geneva HQ are all 2.2 metres wide by 1 metre front-to-back, Gary Fuller adds. Height-adjustable desks have become the industry-wide preference among video editors and graphics staff rather than being viewed by their supervisors as a luxury. This is partly due to the increase in hot-desking. The edit suite desks we designed for RTS are based on our SystemTwo but with an additional centre-rear leg to provide even greater stability than the standard mode. Each desk is equipped with three electrically-motorised legs which can be set to any required height from 67 cm to 1.25 metres above floor level. Two monitor mounting pillars are positioned at the rear of each desk plus a third pillar to support an audio mixer.
The colour-grading suite desk is designed for single-operator use and is fitted with a Filmlight Blackboard 2 control surface embedded in the worktop plus user-adjustable monitor mounts. It is similar in styling and facilities to an existing Custom Consoles colour-grading suite desk at RTS.
