NBCUniversal Promotes Anand Kini to Executive Vice President, Strategy and Busine Insights

NBCUniversal today promoted Anand Kini to Executive Vice President, Strategy and Business Insights. In this new role, Kini will continue to shape and develop NBCUniversal's long term strategic direction, and also will assume responsibility for data-driven consumer and business insights. Kini now joins the NBCUniversal Executive Committee and will report directly to Steve Burke, CEO, NBCUniversal.

Kini's expanded purview will include evaluating entertainment consumption, advertising monetization and the emergence of new viewership platforms to better inform NBCUniversal decision making. Additionally, Kini will be responsible for managing the existing research infrastructure and creating new capabilities to best support the businesses' needs.

Anand has a strong analytical mind and an excellent command of the rapidly changing marketplace, said Burke. Having Anand oversee business insights along with strategy will allow us to better evaluate the complicated issues facing our industry and help us capitalize on opportunities for the entire company.

Most recently Kini served as the Senior Vice President, Strategic Planning and Development since July, 2011. During this time, Kini has helped craft various growth initiatives, including expansion of Universal Theme Parks, development of the company-wide Consumer Products business, and investment in digital new media. Additionally, Kini leads NBCUniversal's annual long-range planning and franchise management across the company's business areas.

Prior to joining NBCUniversal, Kini held the position of Senior Vice President, Financial Planning and Analysis for Comcast Cable Communications, LLC. In that role he managed Comcast Cable's forecasting, annual budget, and three-year planning process, and served as a key analytical resource to help the cable businesses identify emerging market trends, evaluate competitive positioning and determine attractive growth strategies to drive strong financial returns.

He joined Comcast in 2007 from Activision Blizzard, a video game publisher in Southern Calif., where he was Vice President of Financial Planning. Prior to that, he was Director of Financial Planning for Disney's Parks and Resorts division, where he split his time between California and Florida.

Kini is a graduate of Wesleyan University in Connecticut with a bachelor of arts in Economics, and received his MBA from Harvard Business School.
