Created by Iralta VR, a recently released video series The EIB 360 : Quest for Climate Solutions , has been post-produced with Mistika VR, the industry's favourite optical flow stitching and stabilisation solution.

This new European Investment Bank's immersive video series highlights the innovative ways European engineers and scientists tackle climate change. For large organisations such as EIB it is sometimes challenging to explain some of their activities in a visually attractive manner to a broader audience, which is why the 360 format felt like a natural choice for this project. It takes the narration to a much higher level, offering the viewer the possibility of visiting the EIB projects in an immersive way and meeting the people behind them, shared Ram n Verdugo, Director of Photography at Iralta VR.

Aerial, underwater and land shootingBeing a long-term episodic project, which often implies travelling to difficult-access areas, the team from Iralta VR had to plan very carefully all the production and the minimum resources needed. The first four chapters of the EIB series include 360 video and photo, standard 4K video footage and graphics that alternate in the script of each video. The shooting was carried out with Kandao, Insta360 VR and Sony 4K cameras, underwater equipment and drones. We have had to shoot in many places where it was not possible for the production team to hide, so the vast majority of shots in which there are interviews with the entire technical team on the scene, we had to replace it later with the plates that were captured immediately on set.

Tight DeadlineThe first three episodes had a very tight schedule from the shoot to final delivery and for Ram n and his team it was extremely important to establish a flexible workflow that would allow them to move back and forth between different stages of post-production. For this, Mistika VR has been fundamental, since it allowed us to go back to the stitching and make the necessary tweaks easily and very quickly.
Many 360 shots were shot from a drone, which involved more complications due to the reduced agility and shaky footage. The quick and easy corrections of image swings, twists and tilts were possible due to the QooCam and Obsidian inertia sensors, and their compatibility with Mistika VR, reading the metadata and stabilising the shots immediately .
Mistika VR is a part of all VR and VPX workflows at Iralta VR. It is a fast and powerful software that allows us to speed up our processes without losing stitching quality. The compatibility with the IMU metadata enables us to obtain perfectly stabilised shots in a record time. The optical flow, edge points and the colour management tools provide us with a total control of the image we need to deliver impeccable results, concludes Ram n Verdugo.

En esta nueva serie de v deos inmersivos del Banco Europeo de Inversiones destacan las formas innovadoras en que los ingenieros y cient ficos europeos se enfrentan al cambio clim tico. Para las grandes organizaciones o los bancos multilaterales de desarrollo es un reto explicar lo que hacen y financian y, al mismo tiempo, hacerlo atractivo para el espectador, comparti Ram n Verdugo, Director de Fotograf a de Iralta VR.
Y justamente por ello el formato 360 pareci una elecci n natural, ya que lleva la narraci n a un nivel superior, ofreciendo al espectador la posibilidad de visitar los proyectos de una manera inmersiva y conocer a las personas que est n detr s de ellos.
Rodando en tierra, agua y aire
Siendo un proyecto serial a largo plazo, que implica viajes la mayor a de las ocasiones a espacios naturales y de dif cil acceso, el equipo de Iralta VR ten a que planificar muy bien toda la producci n y las herramientas m nimas necesarias. Los cuatro cap tulos de la serie cuentan con im genes de v deo y foto 360 , im genes 4K de v deo est ndar y grafismos que van alternando en el gui n de cada v deo. El rodaje se llev a cabo con c maras VR Kandao e Insta360, c maras 4K Sony, equipos submarinos y drones.
Hemos tenido que rodar en muchos lugares en los que por su orograf a no era viable que el equipo humano se escondiera, as que la gran mayor a de planos en los que hay entrevistas o personajes, con todo el equipo t cnico en escena, tuvimos que reemplazarlo posteriormente con plates que captur bamos inmediatamente en el set.
Plazo de entrega reducido
Para la presentaci n de los tres primeros cap tulos dispon an de muy poco tiempo desde el rodaje hasta la entrega final, donde era imprescindible mantener un amplio margen de maniobra por si hab a que volver a pasos intermedios. Para ello Mistika VR ha sido fundamental, ya que nos permit a volver al material para hacer las correcciones que precis ramos, y en poco tiempo ten amos de nuevo el m ster de esa pieza listo para incluirlo en la experiencia final, cuenta Ram n Verdugo.
El equipo dispon a de mucho material rodado en 360 desde un dron, implicando m s complicaciones ya que este es menos gil y hay que prescindir del guimbal tradicional,
