BBC Studios and Post Production offers DPP AS-11 digital file delivery, hosting and storage services 28 May 2014

BBC Studios and Post Production's award-winning Digital Media Services business is helping UK broadcasters and production companies with the move to DPP compliant file-based content delivery. Through its end-to-end digital delivery, hosting and storage services, the company will ensure its customers' digital content complies with the Digital Production Partnership's (DPP) AS-11 delivery standard, which comes into force from 1 October 2014.

The company's offering includes a service for creating, delivering and storing DPP AS-11 compliant files and is overseen by James Mackie, Digital Media Service's Quality Control specialist. Mackie is also an advisor to the DPP Group and was a contributor in the development of the DPP delivery specification.

BBC Studios and Post Production Digital Media Services is using the latest digital archive technology its new Front Porch Digital's DIVArchive content storage management and DIVAdirector digital asset management systems and existing proven quality control and compliance equipment to manage the services. Housed at Digital Media Services' bespoke facility, it gives clients the flexibility to store all of their content, from a single programme or an episodic series to an entire archive, in one secure place, but with geographic redundancy for disaster recovery.

The company also offers cost effective short and long-term online hosting options to enable content owners to view and access their content anytime, anywhere. Its Imagen hosting platform provides secure access to proxy files with sophisticated search tools, clipping and fulfilment options as required. Storage is free for clients for the first year with any DPP file creation and delivery.
