Dudley Sutton and James Redmond set to visit the Dales

The secrets of the past come home to roost for Emmerdales Ruby Haswell (Alicya Eyo) when her ex-boyfriend makes an appearance in the most unlikely of circumstances.

James Redmond (Casualty, Hollyoaks) will play Seb who re-appears in Rubys life as she struggles with mounting debt and unsuccessful attempts to become pregnant and have a much yearned for baby with her partner, Ali (Kelli Hollis).

Consequently Ruby applies for a job as a carer who looks after an elderly gentleman, William, who just happens to be her former boyfriends father.

Veteran actor, Dudley Sutton, takes the role of William, who with his old fashioned attitude, initially makes things difficult for Ruby.

Dudleys extensive television credits include Lovejoy and the Biederbecke trilogy, whilst James is known for his work with Casualty and Hollyoaks.

James and Dudley will be on screen from the end of February.

Dudley says, This will be my second appearance in Emmerdale as I appeared in 1997 as a tramp! Its great to be back in Yorkshire and I have fond memories of filming the Beiderbecke trilogy in the same building as Emmerdale is now filmed.

James said: Having taken a 5 year break from acting to concentrate on stand up comedy I am really looking forward to getting back on the horse. It will be great to join the cast of Emmerdale and Seb will be my first time playing a northerner!

Kate Oates, Emmerdale Series Producer says: We're delighted to have Dudley and James filming with us. Their wealth of acting experience makes them great additions to the show.
