Winners of the Global You Video Competition to report from Paris climate talks

The results are in! Two young climate activists have won the 2015 Global Youth Video Competition on Climate Change, with their inspiring short films on local climate change action. Each of the film makers will now take up the top prize the opportunity to become youth reporters at the UN Climate Change Conference which takes place in Paris in December.

Saraswati Upadhaya from Nepal and Charles Batte from Uganda were selected out of over 130 entrants from 60 countries. They will be working alongside the communications team of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) to help make sure that news and information from the milestone meeting, widely billed as probably the last realistic chance for an effective global deal to tackle climate change, reaches youth audiences.

The video competition was launched by in June, by Action for Climate Empowerment (ACE), the UNFCCC secretariat, in partnership with tve (Television for the Environment) and supported by the Global Environment Facility's Small Grants Programme, which is run by the UN Development Programme. The competition You Tube channel has attracted over 100,000 viewers to watch films about actions from across the globe by young people between the ages of 18 and 30.
