Recently rebranded Espial platform spawned from acquisition of Arris's Whole Home Solutions business

Wurl TV, a provider of OTT channels that can be integrated into a MVPD's set-top guide interface, said it has wrapped its integration with Elevate, a platform from Espial that was derived from Espial's acquisition last year of Arris's Whole Home Solutions business.

With the integration complete, MVPDs that use Elevate can weave in Wurl TV's array of OTT-delivered channels in Espial-powered set-tops, smartphones and tablets.

Shaw Communications, WideOpenWest, Buckeye CableSystem, EastLink, Comporium, Consolidated Communications and Service Electric Cable TV are among MSOs that were using Arris's Whole Home Solution, so would seemingly be in line to use the updated Elevate platform from Espial.

Wurl TV recently made its OTT channel lineup available on broadband-connected TiVo devices.

Wurl TV's co-produced channels include Newsy, IGN TV, Baeble Music TV, and FNL Network. A Wurl TV-produced offering, the ALT Channel, features content from partners such as Busca TV, Sportskool, ZoominTV, Splash News, Obsev, Foody TV, Comedy Time, and Bonnier, among others. Those OTT channels are made to appear in the guide alongside traditional TV channels.

Wurl TV's business model is based on advertising. It runs ad-serving systems for its OTT channels that enables parties to buy ads against the OTT programming. Wurl TV also gives MVPD partners an opportunity to sell a portion of that ad inventory.
