Destiny Media to host South Africa s inaugural Film Finance World Forum --

On 23 October 2014, Destiny Media will be hosting the inaugural Film Finance World Forum at Atlas Studios in Milpark, Johannesburg. The aim is to provide a platform for producers, financiers and film industry players to engage in discussion and gain insights on the most recent developments in the film industry.

Supported by the Film and Publication Board and Gauteng Film Commission in association with MNET and the Namibian Film Commission, the Film Finance World Forum forms part of Destiny Media s industry forum series aimed at unlocking funding, growth and opportunities in various sectors of the South African and African economy at large.

Staged at a time when the local film industry has seen tremendous growth in both local and international productions, Film Finance World will also allow producers the opportunity to engage with experts from various fields including accounting, insurance and legal expertise in order to gain information on how to ensure that their and their investors interests are protected.

According to a study drafted by professional service firm Deloitte, on behalf of the National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF), the SA Film Industry employs more than 25 000 people and contributed more than R3.5 billion in 2012. Parts of South Africa, Cape Town in particular, has been the location of many international feature films with extremely large budgets and with this momentum the Film Finance World Conference will attempt to provide more opportunities and funding to further grow the SA Film Industry and Africas film industry as a whole.

A key objective of Film Finance World will be to introduce financiers and the venture capital community to the feature film industry and provide them with an understanding of how film finance packages are structured and how to identify viable feature film projects.
