NFL Partners with TMRW Sports to Launch Professional Flag Football League

The NFL has announced a partnership with TMRW Sports to develop and operate a professional flag football league for women and men. The league will launch with investment from NFL clubs, institutional investors, and current and former NFL players. A launch timeline is expected to align with the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

NFL clubs authorized 32 Equity, the member clubs' investment vehicle, to invest up to $32 million to support the launch. TMRW Sports was selected following a competitive evaluation process. The company previously developed TGL presented by SoFi, a team golf league in partnership with the PGA TOUR.

Player investors include Pro Football Hall of Famers Peyton Manning, Joe Montana, Steve Young, and Larry Fitzgerald, as well as Tom Brady, Eli Manning, Justin Tuck, Ryan Nece, Dhani Jones, Arik Armstead, Bobby Wagner, and Russell Wilson. Additional investors include Billie Jean King, Ilana Kloss, Alex Morgan, and Serena Williams. Institutional investors include Ariel Investments/Project Level, Bessemer Venture Partners, Blue Pool Capital, Dynasty Equity, Silver Lake, and Sixth Street, along with 776/Alexis Ohanian, APEX Capital, Arctos Partners, Bolt Ventures, Next Legacy Partners, Trenches Capital, and Trybe Ventures.

Flag football has approximately 20 million players worldwide. In the U.S., approximately 4.1 million youth play flag football - an increase of more than 50% since 2020. The sport is offered at the high school level in 39 states, with the number of young women playing on high school teams increasing nearly 60% from 2024 to 2025. More than 100 colleges and universities offer women's flag football programming, and the NCAA has added flag football to its Emerging Sports for Women program. Flag football will make its Olympic debut at the Los Angeles 2028 Games.
