Plainspeakin' James Horner has revealed why he didn't return to compose the score to The Amazing Spider-Man 2 despite working on the predecessor.
Basically: The next movie ended up being so terrible, I didn't want to do it. It was just dreadful.
That's according to an interview conducted by fan site James Horner Film Music, and it's not the only realness the Academy Award-winning composer offered up.
[Director Marc Webb] was very inexperienced and he and I had a very good relationship and the producers had their own opinion. And they didn't want his input. And then Sony had their own, they just wanted action.
Hans Zimmer ended up composing the score for the film, collaborating with Pharrell Williams, Johnny Marr and Junkie XL among several other notable talents.
The irony here? That score ended up being 2014's absolute worst and that's coming from someone who didn't even mind the movie.
