Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the interior of the Northern Cape, Free State, North-West Province, Gauteng, Western Bushveld and the extreme western parts of Mpumalanga.

Special weather advisories

A heat wave with persistently high temperatures in Gauteng, eastern part of Northwest and the south-western parts of the Western Bushveld in Limpopo is expected until Wednesday.

Weather forecast and UV index for all provinces Gauteng: Partly cloudy and hot.

UVB sunburn index: Extreme.

Mpumalanga: Fine and warm to hot but very hot in the Lowveld. It will become partly cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers from the afternoon.

Limpopo: Fine and hot to very hot becoming partly cloudy from the afternoon with isolated thunderstorms.

North-West Province: Partly cloudy, windy and hot, but very hot in the north.

Free State: Partly cloudy, windy and warm to hot.

Northern Cape: Fog along the north-west coast, otherwise fine and warm becoming partly cloudy in the west and south by afternoon. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly to south-easterly.

Western Cape: Cloudy to partly cloudy and cool with widespread to scattered showers and rain, otherwise isolated but fine in the north-east. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-westerly.

UVB index: High.

Western half of the Eastern Cape: Fine and cool along the coast, otherwise warm over the interior. It will become cloudy along the south coast from the afternoon, with afternoon and evening showers mainly along the coast and adjacent interior. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong south-westerly.

Eastern half of the Eastern Cape: Partly cloudy and warm, becoming cloudy in the afternoon, with evening showers in places south of the escarpment. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong south-westerly.

KwaZulu-Natal: Morning fog over the interior, otherwise partly and warm but hot in the north where it will be fine. It will become cloudy in the afternoon with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered in the east except in the north east. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north-easterly becoming south-westerly from the south in the afternoon spreading to Richards Bay by evening.
