
VMware Virtual SAN Now Available in Public Beta
PALO ALTO, Calif. Sept. 23, 2013 VMware, Inc. (NYSE: VMW), the global leader in virtualization and cloud infrastructure, today announced the general availability of VMware vCloud Suite 5.5 and VMware vSphere with Operations Management 5.5, featuring new and enhanced availability and performance capabilities to support customers' business critical applications as well as new workloads. Additionally, VMware today announced VMware Virtual SAN is now available for download and trial via a public beta program.
At VMworld 2013, VMware introduced its latest wave of product innovation, said John Gilmartin, vice president, Cloud Infrastructure Products, VMware. Today, we're delivering on that promise with the availability of VMware vCloud Suite 5.5 and VMware vSphere with Operations Management 5.5, and the beta of VMware Virtual SAN .These solutions provide customers with building blocks to develop a software-defined data center architecture to achieve increased IT efficiency, agility and control.
VMware vCloud Suite 5.5 is the new release of the comprehensive and integrated suite of cloud infrastructure and management software that enables customers to build and operate vSphere -based private clouds based on a software-defined data center architecture. The suite features VMware vSphere 5.5, which introduces new capabilities and enhancements across compute, storage, availability and backup to offer customers the best platform for all their applications. Automation and operations management capabilities have been extended to all VMware vCloud Suite 5.5 editions to automate the delivery of IT services and greatly simplify IT administration.
VMware vSphere with Operations Management 5.5 is the latest release of the industry-leading vSphere virtualization platform with insight into workload capacity and health. VMware vSphere with Operations Management enables customers to optimize their environment through integrated capacity planning while proactively monitoring and maintaining overall performance of their environment. VMware vSphere with Operations Management 5.5 takes advantage of VMware vSphere 5.5 to help customers achieve greater application performance, application-aware availability and support for Big Data applications.
To foster broad product feedback and testing from customers and prospects in real-world environments, VMware Virtual SAN is now available via a public beta at: http://www.vmware.com/vsan-beta-register.html. VMware Virtual SAN is a new software-defined storage solution that extends VMware vSphere to pool compute and direct-attached storage. VMware Virtual SAN clusters server disks and flash to produce simple, high-performance, resilient shared storage designed for virtual machines.

VMware vCloud Suite 5.5 and VMware vSphere with Operations Management 5.5 are now generally available.
VMware vCloud Suite 5.5 is available in three editions Standard, Advanced and Enterprise with prices starting at $4,995 per processor.
