O Derek Chooses Vinten for Cornelius Mims EPK

Today, every artist has his own electronic press kit (EPK), and Cornelius Corney Mims is no exception. Mims, credited with creating the soundtrack such as Phelous & the Movies, He's Just Not That Into You, and Ghostbusters II, and producing songs for Mary J Blige, LL Cool J, Gladys Knight and many others turned to award-winning Producer/Director/DP Keith O'Derek to help him shoot his EPK.

Vinten is my go-to tripod for any situation, says O'Derek. When I got the assignment to interview legendary bass guitarist Cornelius Corney' Mims, I realized the location presented several different challenges. We were to shoot him at the residence of Sandra L. Jones ESQ (founder and sister) of the Roderick D. Jones Foundation and Twin Palms Restaurant in Pasadena, California.

As usual, O'Derek worked as a one-man-band. His travel package had to be portable and easy to set up. That's why I used the Vision blue5 and blueBridge for my Panasonic HVX 200 camera, he says. I needed a tripod that was lightweight and would not damage the wood floors on location.

Vinten suits my needs on all accounts, since I often shoot alone and I need to carry the least amount of equipment possible, he adds. Now, when I shoot in a location like a nightclub or in a dark setting, I don't need to have someone hold a flashlight or resort to putting a flashlight in my mouth when I balance the tripod With Visionblue the self illuminating balance bubble solves that issue. Also I now can capture live performances on stage with a tripod that is super smooth and jerk-free.

Vinten is light, sturdy, and extremely smooth for performance and movement, excellent for low angle shots, and the rubber spreader keeps wood and marble floors like we were using for this shoot from getting scratched or damaged.
