On Saturday, 14 February 2015, BBC Minute, a contemporary one-minute global English news round-up from the BBC World Service launches on YFM in South Africa. The 60-second broadcast is optimised for youth music radio and aimed at younger, connected audiences. BBC Minute will be available to listeners in South Africa on YFM twice an hour, 24-hours a day, 7-days a week.

BBC Minute is a brand new offer from the World Service designed to complement the existing media habits, such as listening to streamed music. It will be distributed via radio and digital partners around the world.

The one-minute summary will keep audiences updated on what s trending on social media, the latest international news headlines, as well as major global stories across the worlds of sport, tech, entertainment and science.

Radio stations around the world, and particularly in Africa, are signing to broadcast BBC Minute. Stations like YFM 99.2 in South Africa, Kiss FM Tanzania, Radio 2 and QFM in Zambia, and XFM in Uganda say the BBC Minute fits the high-energy, music intensive formats they operate. These stations attract large audiences of young listeners in competitive markets.

BBC Minute brings together the multi-lingual, multi-platform and international expertise from across BBC News. The London based team will be working round the clock to compile the twice-hourly bulletins.
