Watch every stage of the first of the 2015 cycling season's Grand Tours as the Giro d'Italia comes LIVE to SBS from May 9 - 31.

SBS has every moment of the iconic race covered with LIVE stages broadcast from 11pm* on SBS ONE, all stages streamed LIVE online at the Cycling Central website and stage highlights from 6pm on SBS 2.

This year's Giro d'Italia promises to be a monumental one for local audiences as Australians take centre stage, with Aussie rider Richie Porte a top contender for the Maglia Rosa winner's jersey.

The 98th edition of the tour of Italy, known as the toughest of Europe's three Grand Tours, covers 3,489 kilometres over 21 thrilling stages of racing through the Italian countryside to the finish line in Milan.

For the first time in Grand Tour history, the Giro d'Italia includes a spectacular Team Time Trial along a cycling path for Stage 1 on the Italian Riviera from San Lorenzo al Mare to Sanremo.

22 teams of nine riders start the 2015 Giro d'Italia, among them an elite contingent of Aussies in action.

Richie Porte, coming off impressive early season wins at the famed Paris-Nice and Spain's Tour of Catalonia, is a favourite to claim the pink jersey for Team Sky. Australian team Orica GreenEDGE has its sights set on Giro success, with 2014 pink jersey wearer Michael Matthews leading a star studded line up. Also lining up for the start is Tinkoff-Saxo veteran Michael Rogers, who won 2 stages at last year's Giro and will ride in support of Porte's big rival, former winner Alberto Contador.

SBS's coverage will be hosted by award-winning cycling journalist Michael Tomalaris with former professional cyclist Henk Vogels. Commentary will be provided by Matt Keenan and former Giro d'Italia stage winner David McKenzie.
