Thomson Broadcast has been chosen to supply transmitters to Trade House Sviaz Engineering, the contractor appointed to deploy the second national digital television multiplex operated by RTRN, Russia's national radio and TV broadcaster.
In a major infrastructure project unfolding over three years, hundreds of Thomson Broadcast transmitters from the Elite and Futhura ranges will be installed across the vast Russian territory, with transmitters from 25 W up to 10 kW supplied in the first year. All the transmitters support both Single Frequency Network configuration and Multiple Frequency Networks, with high efficiency over the entire UHF frequency range allowing the operator the flexibility to reallocate transmitters to new sites during the deployment.
Moscow-based integrators Trade House Sviaz Engineering will deliver the infrastructure for RTRN. After an exhaustive evaluation of all the major manufacturers, Thomson has been chosen as one of the main partners in the construction of Russia's second digital television multiplex because its Futhura and Elite transmitters provide the best balance of features and performance with cost, said Mr. Andrey Mekhanik, Chairman of Trade House Sviaz Engineering.
This very large scale project is the latest in a series of important contract wins for Thomson Broadcast in 2013, which began in January with the national DTT infrastructure project for Israel. So far in 2013 Thomson has seen a huge increase in sales compared to the previous five years, and has firmly re-established its leading position in worldwide digital television and radio projects.
This enormous order continues the extraordinary success of Thomson Broadcast in 2013 and confirms that the Elite and Futhura range offer an unbeatable combination of advantages for the broadcaster, said Pascal Veillat, Chairman, Arelis Group. We are now working closely with Sviaz Engineering to ensure the speedy delivery of our equipment and to support our partner in this exciting project.
