ITV2 acquires all-new US comedy Mom and past seasons of Two and a Half Men

Mom, the highly anticipated new comedy from executive producer Chuck Lorre (The Big Bang Theory), and the past seasons of Lorre's Emmy -nominated hit comedy series Two and a Half Men have both been acquired by ITV2 from Warner Bros. International Television Distribution, it was announced today.

Mom stars Anna Faris as Christy, a single mother whose newly found sobriety has given her the ability to see her life clearly but she doesn't like what she sees. Now she must try to untangle years of reckless decisions in order to make a better life for her and her kids. But she discovers that just because you want to be a better person, doesn't mean it's going to be easy. Everywhere she looks there are challenges: she is trying to stop drinking while living in wine country, have a healthy romance with her unavailable boss, raise her young son to be a good man despite his father's influence, convince her troubled teenage daughter to make better choices than she did, and perhaps the most difficult task forgive her estranged mother, Bonnie (Emmy winner Allison Janney), for not giving her any of the tools she needed to handle life in the first place.

In addition to Faris and Janney, Mom stars Nate Corddry (Harry's Law), French Stewart (3rd Rock from the Sun), Matt Jones (Breaking Bad), Sadie Calvano (NCIS), Spencer Daniels (Crash [TV series]) and Blake Garrett Rosenthal (New Girl). Executive producers Chuck Lorre and Eddie Gorodetsky wrote the pilot with producer Gemma Baker. The series is from Chuck Lorre Productions, Inc. in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Director of Digital Channels and Acquisitions, Angela Jain also announced that ITV2 has acquired the free to air broadcast rights to the first ten series of Two and a Half Men. ITV2 viewers will be able to see the hit US comedy right from the start, with series one due to air in 2014.

In Two and a Half Men, three males from two generations are each learning what it really means to be a man. Charlie Harper (Charlie Sheen, seasons 1 8) is a well-to-do bachelor with a house at the beach, a Mercedes in the garage and an easy way with women. His casual Malibu lifestyle is interrupted when his tightly wound brother, Alan (Emmy winner Jon Cryer), whos facing a divorce, and Alans son, Jake (Angus T. Jones), come to stay with him. Together, these two and a half men confront the challenges of growing up finally. Complicating matters are the brothers self-obsessed, controlling mother, Evelyn (Holland Taylor); Alans estranged wife, Judith (Marin Hinkle); and Charlies domineering, unapologetically blue-collar housekeeper, Berta (Conchata Ferrell).

After Charlie's death, Alan and Jake encounter Walden Schmidt (Ashton Kutcher, season 9 present), a lovelorn Internet billionaire with an innocence born out of his lifelong dependence on others to take care of him. After a failed attempt to drown himself in the ocean after his wife Bridget (recurring guest star Judy Greer) kicked him out, a suicidal Walden stumbles into the Malibu beach house where Alan and Jake had been living for the past eight years. With no place to go, Walden buys the house and invites Alan to remain there. Despite his unsuccessful history with women, Alan unexpectedly finds himself mentoring Walden, who has severely limited dating experience. While Walden, Alan and Jake adjust to their new living arrangement, they create a surrogate family unit that promises to make each a better man.

Chuck Lorre needs no introduction, he is a comedy genius. With that pedigree, Mom was a must-have for us and we hope ITV2 viewers agree that it is a laugh-out loud treat .

We also know that while new episodes of Two and a Half Men continue on another network, it will fuel interest in the classic episodes by both new and long-time fans.
