New Solution Expands Harmonic's Network Intelligence Portfolio and Brings Comcast-Developed Fiber Monitoring Technology to Broadband Operators, Providing Real-Time Network Visibility, Proactive Fault Detection and Faster Resolution
SAN JOSE, Calif. - Sept. 30, 2026 - Harmonic (NASDAQ: HLIT) today introduced Recon, a new family of network monitoring and measurement solutions developed in collaboration with Comcast to help broadband operators detect network issues earlier, pinpoint their location and resolve them faster. The initial Recon offering is built on XMFR fiber monitoring technology developed by Comcast and proven in its network.
Harmonic and Comcast worked together to evolve the technology into a commercial solution that can be deployed by broadband operators and other infrastructure providers, combining Comcast's network technology and operational experience with Harmonic's broadband portfolio and global reach. Comcast's technology continuously monitors performance to identify changes that can indicate degradation or fiber cuts and provide precise location information to network teams.
Recon pairs in-network monitoring hardware and handheld diagnostic tools with cloud-based software to provide real-time visibility across fiber infrastructure. The solution also integrates with Harmonic's cOS SensAI intelligence fabric, which uses network data collected by Recon to proactively detect faults and validate remediation.
Subscribers today expect nothing less than a flawless connectivity experience. With broadband networks expanding rapidly, operators often lack the real-time visibility to detect minor issues before they become large-scale outages, said Yaniv Ben-Soussan, Senior Vice President of Cloud and Intelligence Platform at Harmonic.
