Netflix Announces Il Mostro: Start of Production for the TV Series That Tells the Story of the Monster of Florence, Directed by Stefano Sollima

October 10, 2023 - Start of production for Il Mostro, the four-episode TV series directed by Stefano Sollima and created by Leonardo Fasoli and Stefano Sollima. The Apartment - a Fremantle company - and AlterEgo production, the series produced by Lorenzo Mieli and Stefano Sollima is coming soon only on Netflix.
SYNOPSIS:
Eight double murders. Seventeen years of terror. Always the same weapon. A .22 caliber Beretta. One of the longest and most complex Italian investigations into the first and most brutal serial killer in the countrys history: The Monster of Florence. A series based on true events, direct testimonies, procedural documents and journalistic investigations. All terribly true. Because we believe that telling the truth, and only that, is the only way to bring justice to the victims. In a story where there have been many possible monsters, over time and investigations, our story focuses on them, the possible monsters, from their point of view. Because the monster, in the end, could be anyone.

The Apartment
The Apartment is a company founded in 2020 by Lorenzo Mieli and is part of the Fremantle group. The Apartment was born to develop and create series and films on a global scale by investing in the acquisition of intellectual properties and in exclusive agreements with international writers and talents. The Apartment positions itself on the market as an incubator for large projects whose executive production, once developed and financed, is carried out by a network of partner companies. The Apartment, among other things, co-signs series with Wildside such as The New Pope by Paolo Sorrentino, My Brilliant Friend - The story of a new name by Saverio Costanzo and We are who we are by Luca Guadagnino. The Apartment produced The Hand of God by Paolo Sorrentino in 2021, nominated at the Oscars, the Golden Globes and the Bafta, and winner of the Silver Lion Grand Jury Prize at the 78th Venice International Film Festival. In 2022, the company produced, among others, the series Esterno Notte by Marco Bellocchio, presented at the Cannes Film Festival, and Bones and All by Luca Guadagnino, winner of the Silver Lion for Best Direction and the Mastroianni Award at the last Venice International Film Festival. In 2023 The Apartment returned to competition in Venice with Enea by Pietro Castellitto, Adagio by Stefano Sollima and Priscilla by Sofia Coppola, winner of the Volpi Cup for Best Leading Actress Cailee Spaeny.
Lorenzo Mieli and Gabriele Immirzi are the CEOs of the company.
AlterEgo
AlterEgo is a new reality in the panorama of film production, founded in 2022.
AlterEgo's first production is "Adagio", the new film from Stefano Sollima, produced in collaboration with The Apartment and distributed by Vision Distribution, officially presented in competition at the 80th Venice International Film Festival. From December 14th 2023, AlterEgo will introduce itself to the public with the release of "Adagio".
