A Donation to Support Hospice Ljubljana, 20 February Telekom Slovenije donated 20,000 to support the activities of the Slovenian Hospice House. Hospice helps the terminally ill prepare for a proper farewell, supports their relatives, and consults hospitals and other institutions. On behalf of Telekom Slovenije the president of the Management Board Rudolf Skobe presented this donation to the president of the Hospice Society Tatjana Fink.
As a socially responsible company, Telekom Slovenije has placed responsibility for developing the broader society at the heart of its culture and business operations. It is a frequent supporter of sports, culture, education, science, medical and humanitarian activities. Humanitarian aid has now become a daily call to action, and Telekom Slovenije has provided the Slovenian Hospice House with a special donation of 20,000, to continue to finance their services for providing for the terminally ill with palliative care and counseling. Even though it is dearly needed as an organization, it faces severe financial hardships, and its operations depend mostly on the charity of companies and individuals, as a systemic solution within the scope of the medical and social system will not be ready until this autumn at the earliest.
On behalf of Telekom Slovenije the president of the Management Board, Rudolf Skobe,presented the donation to the president of the Hospice Society Tatjana Fink, commenting: We believe that systematic care for those who have already given every drop of their knowledge, creativity and energy to the society is a sensible response to their troubles and the helplessness of their final moments. Life is important until the very last moment. That is why we at Telekom Slovenije decided to donate 20,000 euros to the Hospice house with the desire to help maintain its uninterrupted operations.
The president of the Hospice Society, Mrs. Tatjana Fink expressed gratitude for the donation, saying: Hospice House is the one and only institution in Slovenia that allow terminally ill to depart in a decent and humane way, and in the company of their loved ones. We provide our residents with full care, medical assistance and psychological and social support. Even though death is an uncomfortable subject in our society, it is a part of life we face it as relatives, friends and acquaintances, and also as professionals, doctors and medical staff. It is therefore of the utmost importance that we face it in a cultural and humane way.
Telekom Slovenije decided for the donation for the benefit of all requiring palliative care and counseling. First and foremost this includes the dying and their relatives, as well as various professionals, retirement homes and hospitals. Hospice house is also an important part of medical profession, striving for appropriate palliative care and alleviating the burden on hospitals. Globally the operations of Hospice Houses are integrated in different ways into the medical or social systems of individual countries, while in Slovenia a systemic solution is planned to be completed by the end of this year.
