KDDI to launch "Upgrade Program EX"

Beginning July 14, 2017, KDDI and Okinawa Cellular will offer Upgrade Program EX, enabling customers who have been subscribed to au Pitatto Plan or au Flat Plan for at least 24 months [2] to have up to half of their installment payments waived [3] when changing to a new model. This program will make it easier for customers to purchase the latest au smartphone models [1].

Upgrade Program EX eliminates the need for customers who have been using an eligible au mobile phone [1] to pay up to half of their installment payments by paying a monthly program charge of 390 (non-taxed) for 24 months.

With this program, customers who purchase an eligible model [1] can not only reduce their monthly payments by choosing an installment contract (48 months) [4], but they can change to a new model [5] at any time from the 25th month onwards [2], with any outstanding monthly payment balance waived for the previous device.

Customers can also change to a new model between the 13th month and the 24th month by upfront payment of the program charges ( 390 x the number of months remaining until the 25th month (non-taxed)). In this case, the installment payments up to the 25th month must be paid, but no further payment is required after that.

Payment in 48 installments cannot be selected when purchasing iPhone 7/iPhone 7 Plus/iPhone 6s/iPhone 6s Plus/iPhone SE/iPhone 6/iPhone 6 Plus/iPhone 5s/iPhone 5c/iPhone 5.

The previous device must be surrendered when changing to a new model using this benefit.
