This October, in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, GoPro is proud to announce a partnership with Boarding For Breast Cancer (B4BC). Breast cancer impacts far too many people around the world, and we are stoked to be working with B4BC to support and help spread awareness.
We are also fired up to announce, that in conjunction with partnering with B4BC, we are releasing GoPro's first-ever pink product: The Pink Sleeve Lanyard. We will be donating 15% of net proceeds from the sale of each Pink Sleeve Lanyard accessory to B4BC, too!
To tell the B4BC story and shed more light on our partnership, we invited Megan Pischke, B4BC's Marketing Wellness Manager to make a guest contribution to The Inside Line. Megan, take it away!
Since 1996, Boarding For Breast Cancer, B4BC, has been an organization that advocates for breast cancer awareness via all-things board sports. As a youth-focused organization, we not only spread the stoke at surf, skate and snow events, mountain resorts, music festivals, colleges, and more, but more importantly, we spread the message that Early Detection Healthy, Active Lifestyle = Best Prevention. Through outreach programs, prevention education, and support systems, we help enrich young people's lives as a whole.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women - nearly 1 in 8 women will develop it in her lifetime. As a result, there are over 3.4 million women currently living with the disease in the United States. We recognize the growing need to create awareness, education, and support for the breast cancer community. What started in 1996 as a one-off B4BC event became a drum beat that we have continuously pounded since then. Today, our activities have only expanded to serve the greater community. We have touched hundreds of thousands of young women through our unique, hands-on educational experience for early detection. For young breast cancer patients and survivors, we offer Chasing Sunshine Mountain and Ocean retreats aimed at inspiring, educating, and connecting young women with nature-based wellness experiences. These retreats focus on empowerment and hope and are tailored specifically towards supporting individuals on their path to wellness and long-term survivorship. I feel incredibly privileged to lead B4BC retreats that facilitate women's health and healing on all levels through connecting with each other and nature. I couldn't be more grateful for the opportunities that arise daily to support others in educating and navigating the messy, confusing path that is cancer.
B4BC is thrilled to announce the collaboration with GoPro this October on the Pink Sleeve Lanyard accessory. Being that both organizations are so tightly connected to the board-sports community and share a mission of empowering individuals to live healthy and active lifestyles, B4BC and GoPro are a natural fit. From the beach-side skatepark to the snow-covered mountain tops - with our shared ambassadors and athletes, including Jamie Anderson, Leticia Bufoni (above) and Elena Hight - it's always felt that B4BC and GoPro are closely aligned. We can't wait to start rocking our Pink Sleeve Lanyard accessories and thank GoPro for helping us spread our message, and for donating a portion of proceeds from the sale of each Pink Sleeve Lanyard accessory to B4BC. We are grateful for this partnership.
