Supports nonprofit organization's mission of empowering health care providers to increase efficiencies and environmental stewardship while improving patient safety and care

Andover, MA Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHI) today announced its membership in Practice Greenhealth, the leading organization in the U.S. for health care institutions that are committed to sustainable, environmentally preferable practices.

As a member, Philips will have the opportunity to participate in a number of initiatives that Practice Greenheath leads and supports to advance the adoption of best practices in sustainability. These opportunities include the Greening the OR and Greening the Supply Chain programs, which are designed to reduce health care facilities' environmental footprint and promote the use of more environmentally preferable products, while increasing operational efficiency, to improve the health of patients, staff and the community.

Becoming a Practice Greenhealth member will enhance our dialogue with health care providers on how we can work together to achieve their sustainability goals, said Luc Lenaerts, Senior Director, Sustainability at Philips Healthcare. It adds an important dimension to our long-standing relationships in the medical community.
