MIX 101.5 Wins 2021 NCAB Large Market Radio Station of the Year

The award is really a testament to the MIX staff and their commitment, dedication, and passion for touching the community each day; especially in a year where a global pandemic changed the course of history for everyone.

WRAL-FM MIX 101.5 has been awarded the 2021 Radio Large Market Station of the Year by the North Carolina Association of Broadcasters. MIX received the honor at the NCAB 2021 Annual Meeting and Awards Presentation held virtually on Tuesday, October 26.

2020 was a challenging year for everybody, said CBC Vice President of Radio Brian Maloney. While I fully realize that all of our peers in the industry stepped up in 2020 Im very proud that our staff/MIX was selected as the best The Large Market Station of The Year! The pandemic really pushed us to innovate, create, and push forward in tremendous adversity. It was a chance to do what we do best local broadcasting and serving our community of listeners and clients. Everybody in our operation played a part in this award a total team effort and they deserve the win!

NCAB presents the annual awards among member radio and television stations. Awards are based on work during 2020.

The team amplified what our local focus stands for and amplified that mission throughout 2020 by being present for our neighbors and partners, sharing their stories, stepping in to help, supporting local businesses, and so much more.

MIX staffers found a way to continue mainstays like the annual Radiothon for Duke Childrens Hospital, which took place virtually, while creating new pandemic-specific promotions. In one such effort, MIX listeners could purchase meals for front line healthcare workers from local restaurants struggling during lockdown.

In a time where nothing seemed certain, The Triangle could count on familiar voices and faces from MIX 101.5 to bring some sense of stability to each changing moment, Simpson continued. Kyle, Bryan, Sarah, Diane, Jim, Doug, Dennis, Victoria, and all our staff remained flexible while maintaining a consistent message of understanding, hope, and compassion. Im so very proud to be part of those efforts and celebrate their success in winning this wonderful honor from NCAB.

The excellent work at MIX 101.5 now reaches even more listeners, as the station moved to the top spot on the Capitol Broadcasting tower in Auburn, NC.

The honor coincides with a new antenna that gives MIX the most geographic coverage and population served of any FM in NC. Flagship of the Wolfpack, tweeted CBC Vice President of Special Projects George Habel after the win.

MIX 101.5s sister television station, WRAL-TV, also received an honor at the 2021 NCAB event. The NCAB awarded WRAL-TV with the Outstanding Hard News Or Breaking Story for the stations coverage of the 2020 Riots in Downtown Raleigh and Fayetteville.
