CINEMATOGRAPHER DANNA KINSKY POWERS HER LATEST FILM PROJECT WITH ANTON/BAUER 26 Nov 2013

With 18 years of experience in cinematography and still photography, Danna Kinsky is always on the hunt for the next interesting feature film. Based on her extensive experience in shooting footage in multiple formats, she relies heavily on batteries from Anton/Bauer , part of Vitec Videocom, a Vitec Group company and a premier global provider of batteries, chargers, lighting and other mobile power systems for the professional broadcast, video, film and healthcare technology industries. The portability and longevity behind the company's DIONIC 90 and HyTRON 50 batteries ensures her equipment runs as smoothly as her productions.

Throughout her career, Kinsky has shot narrative and documentary features, as well as shorts, music videos, live music, commercials, PSAs, reality TV, corporate events and Web series. A long-time fan of Anton/Bauer products, she has used the batteries for more than a decade. For her latest project, A Matter of Chance, Kinsky's kit comprised of HyTRON 50 and DIONIC 90 batteries, as well as a T2 charger. Filmed throughout New York City and Brooklyn, A Matter of Chance follows a rebellious, young woman as she struggles to find herself between the secular and religious worlds.

I choose Anton/Bauer products because I can trust the batteries, says Kinsky. I can trust their longevity and the RealTime display monitors my usage, so I know the battery will never let me down during the middle of an important shot.

The 95Wh battery can handle a maximum load of six amps, and offers run-times ranging from six hours at 15 watts to 1.75 hours at 50 watts. It also features an enhanced RealTimedisplay that indicates both fuel gauge and remaining run-time data simultaneously. The display incorporates readouts of hours, minutes and remaining capacity, making battery change decisions quick and easy. Its motion-detection feature, now standard on all Logic Series batteries, incorporates a sleep-mode setting that reduces battery self-discharge, allowing for extended periods of storage with minimal capacity loss. The battery can be awakened by the built-in motion sensor. These patented features offer confidence for the camera operator.

In addition to the Anton/Bauer batteries, Kinsky used Litepanels 1x1s, Sola ENG kit, Sola 6, Hilios, Miniplus system and Micro, and Canon cameras on set. She says the batteries enabled her to use the array of Litepanels equipment without the need for an A/C adapter. She was also able to power the camera side of her Paralinx wireless system to a Small HD monitor via an Anton/Bauer battery on a dolly, eliminating the need for cables. This allowed the director to easily pinpoint the camera amidst the video set up.

The batteries also offered Kinsky added confidence, helping her to avoid challenging situations on set. Kinsky recalls that while filming one particular scene, she used a lot of reflections and could not find a place to hide her cord fast enough. I was able to solve the issue by using Anton/Bauer DIONIC 90 batteries on the Hilios, Kinsky says. We were stressed on time for this scene and it was challenging to find a place where all the cameras and lights remained hidden from sight, Kinsky says. I decided to amplify the ambiance with the Hilios, which I powered with the DIONIC 90s. Having the ability to run such a strong light, without a cord, was a huge time-saver and stress-reliever. I didn't have to worry about the actors or production staff tripping over any power cords or the cameras being seen in the frame.
