Hopefully you'll have taken away some interesting lessons from my last post, and now enjoy Aframe in new and ingenious ways. Continuing on from where we left off, we've pieced together some more handy tips so you can optimize the most from our offerings.
1. Automatic transcoding into your preferred flavor A historic problem in production workflows for our users is homogenizing the myriad of video formats created by professional cameras, before they hit the edit or go to air.
We've made it simple head over to settings on the dashboard and click on the transcode menu. Users can now select individual clips for custom transcoding - DNxHD, DVCProHD, XDCAM HD, IMX 50 - critically, these include 1080i (60 and 50) and 720p (50 and 60) covering bases across both PAL and NTSC.
2. Transcode-processing page As ever, when you are uploading your footage into Aframe, you can head over to the processing page on your project dashboard to see how your transcodes are progressing - giving you the piece of mind your clips are being ingested in single sessions.
We've made the process of managing your transcodes even easier by displaying the upload source via the web , via FTP or via manual upload . This way you can measure the upload performance for each clip.
3. Combine documents with video If you're delivering video for TV or commercial use, there will be a whole heap of documentation required before delivery. Searching around for all this material when you're trying to put a production to bed is the last thing on your mind.
Your non-video assets can be uploaded into Aframe and preserved with the project through its lifecycle. We'll make a preview for the following formats: pdf, ppt, tiff, doc, xls, gif, jpg, png. Such documents can be uploaded using the documents tab in your project on Aframe.
4. View and accept outstanding invites to projects from your dashboard. No need to dig through hundreds of old emails! Users can save time by simply managing project invites from the comfort of their own dashboard.
We've also introduced share link titles in email subject lines to make it easier to see what you have in your inbox. This is a useful little feature if you receive lots of shares from Aframe.
5. Dedicated workflows for field capture Were you aware that we have tech partnerships with a number of leading camera manufacturers, with dedicated workflows for field capture released as part of NAB 2014.
For example if you use Panasonic or Sony camcorders you can upload media into an Aframe project directly from the camera, saving time and making it exceptionally easy for professionals to leverage all the benefits of secure cloud storage, collaboration and management of video content.
Project administrators can set up a FTP delivery point from within the project settings. This will generate a standard set of credentials which can be entered into the connection settings in camera, allowing the user to upload direct to the project without removing and ingesting card based media.
6. New admin role for team members You can now invite other people to your project to act as administrators - delegate that responsibility!
Our dev team have tweaked Admins abilities further so they are able to enable/disable editing of the clip title and summary. This is a new controllable ability that can be granted or revoked from team members by a project owner in the settings tab.
We've even decided to allow Admins to enable/disable commenting for team members - I think we would like this option on all of our social platforms #block.
