MELBOURNE, FL/ROCHESTER, NY, April 1, 2014 Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, has received $82 million in orders from an international customer for radio communication systems that enable enhanced command and control and real-time situational awareness. The nations armed forces are acquiring Falcon III RF-7800H wideband high-frequency (HF) and RF-7800V very-high-frequency (VHF) radios in handheld, man-portable, vehicular and tactical base station configurations. These systems provide wideband tactical networking to the edge of the battlefield, as well as interoperable line-of-sight and beyond-line-of-sight voice and data communications. The systems allow forces to communicate securely and more immediately with their command structure, enabling more informed decisions. Our secure tactical communication products and system solutions enable armed forces to deploy quickly and manage missions in real time, said Brendan OConnell, president, International business, Harris RF Communications. The Harris solution allows headquarters staff to monitor and coordinate forward operating units, dismounted troops, vehicles and airborne assets. The radio is the first to enable users to send images and other battle management data over high-frequency beyond-line-of-sight environments faster than they could through satellite communications.
