Schaeffler und Porsche feiern dritten WEC-Titelgewinn in Folge
Bereits beim achten von neun Rennwochenenden der FIA-Langstrecken-Weltmeisterschaft (WEC) 2017 in China sicherten sich Schaeffler und Porsche den Fahrer- und den Herstellertitel - nach 2015 und 2016 der dritte WM-Erfolg in Serie.
Mit Highspeed und Hightech zur Meisterschaft: Dank ihres zweiten Platzes beim 6-Stunden-Rennen auf dem Shanghai International Circuit sind Earl Bamber, Timo Bernhard und Brendon Hartley in der Fahrerwertung der FIA-Langstrecken-Weltmeisterschaft (WEC) nicht mehr vom ersten Rang zu verdr ngen. Nach 2015 und 2016 ist es f r Porsche und Partner Schaeffler der dritte Titelgewinn in Folge. Auch in der Hersteller-WM ist der vorzeitige Triumph perfekt.
Die bisherigen Rennen der WEC 2017 haben uns mit packendem Wettbewerb und elektrisierender Technologie erfreut. Dass wir schon jetzt beide Titel gewonnen haben, ist gro artig und beweist, dass das Engagement von Schaeffler in dieser Serie und mit unserem Partner Porsche richtig ist , so Prof. Peter Gutzmer, Stellvertretender Vorsitzender des Vorstands und Technologie-Vorstand von Schaeffler.
In der Motorsportszene ist die WEC als ein besonders hartes und zugleich ideales Testlabor f r innovative Antriebstechnologien bekannt. Ein passendes Umfeld f r ein Unternehmen wie Schaeffler, das in der Entwicklung von Hybridsystemen f r Serienfahrzeuge Pionierarbeit leistet. Der Porsche 919 Hybrid, der in der K nigsklasse LMP1 zum Einsatz kommt, wird sowohl verbrennungsmotorisch als auch elektrisch angetrieben. Die WEC l sst die Herzen der Fans und der Ingenieure h herschlagen , so Gutzmer weiter. Dank des Reglements, das die Effizienz und Energie-Rekuperation der Fahrzeuge in den Vordergrund stellt, findet ein reger Austausch zwischen Motorsport und Serienentwicklung statt.
Langstreckensport hat eine gro e Tradition. Mit der Einf hrung der LMP1-Kategorie f r Hybrid-Prototypen entwickelte sich die WEC zur Krone des Rennwagen-Engineerings. Zus tzlich zu den drei Titeln gewannen Schaeffler und Porsche in den letzten drei Jahren auch jeweils das wichtigste Sportwagenrennen der Welt, die 24 Stunden von Le Mans.
Das letzte Rennen der WEC-Saison 2017 findet in Bahrain statt. Porsche steigt Ende 2019 zur Saison 6 in die Formel E ein. In der innovativen Elektrorennserie ist Schaeffler bereits seit der Deb tsaison 2014/2015 am Start. Das Team ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport gewann in der k rzlich beendeten Saison 2016/2017 den Titel.
