Into the Mind, Sherpas Cinema's new film about an anonymous skier's attempt to climb and ski the ultimate mountain, will screen twice in the Los Angeles area next week as part of its current World Tour. Screenings of the film, which won the International Freeski Film Festival (iF3) Award as Film-the-Year, are slated for November 8 at the Vista Theatre in Los Angeles and November 13th at the Old Town Music Hall in El Segundo. The follow up to All.I.Can, Sherpas Cinema's acclaimed 2011 film, Into the Mind combines stunning cinematography and groundbreaking storytelling techniques in an epic adventure about risk, perseverance and the quest for achievement.
The film's World Tour will continue with screenings across Canada, the United States, Europe, Asia and elsewhere. One critic called the film a genre-bending hybrid of a ski and snowboard film crossed with Planet Earth crossed with a high-budget acid trip.
The Sherpas, who have signed with Los Angeles-based Accomplice Media for commercial representation, began their careers by shooting short ski films. Their work caught the attention of such international brands as Black Diamond Equipment, The North Face, Clif Bar and Universal Music Group, who became their partners and collaborators in a variety of content projects and music videos. In 2011, they wrote, produced and directed their first feature film, All.I.Can, which won more than a dozen awards at film festivals worldwide, including the X-Dance Film Festival (Best Film), Adventure Film Festival (Best Film of the Year) and ESPN Fan Favorites (Best Cinematography). It also ranked first on iTunes among Sports Movies in 2011.
Filming locations for Into the Mind included sites in British Columbia; Alberta; Denali National Park, Alaska; the Swiss Alps, the Himalayas, Bolivia and Costa Rica. It includes performances by Callum Pettit, Kye Petersen, Ian MacIntosh, Tom Wallisch, J.P. Auclair and many other world-class skiers.
