Microspace Helps Make History by Broadcasting the Unprecedented, Historic, Dual Canonization of Pope John XXIII, Pope John Paul II
Live Event Delivered to Theaters Nationwide
On April 27, 2014, in St. Peter's Square, the canonization, by Pope Francis, of two of the most beloved Popes in modern history - John XXIII and John Paul II - captured the attention of the whole world and Microspace Communications Corporation (Microspace), brought this unprecedented event to theater screens in high definition to thousands of viewers in the U.S.
For the first time viewers could watch a historic canonization event presented live across the U.S. in theatres on Microspace's Digital Cinema Network. The event, which was free to the general public, reported good attendance with many theatres filled to capacity.
Alternative content delivered into movie theatres continues to be an area of growth for Microspace and our theatre partners appreciate the ease, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of the Microspace Digital Cinema system enabling this in their auditoriums.
Carmike was thrilled to participate in this live event from Rome. Attendance was beyond our expectations with many of our theatres across the country filling up entire auditoriums. Our partners at Nexo Digital and Microspace made the entire event seamless, even with the complexities of getting live video delivered from the other side of the world, said Gary Green, Director of Alternative Content, Carmike Cinemas.
Microspace continues to grow its slate of live and alternative content programming deliveries to theater customers all across North America, further establishing its leadership role in delivering digital cinema via satellite to more than 3,500 screens in the United States. Microspace continues to be the only company in North America delivering Hollywood features, alternative content and live events to theatres.
Microspace was proud to be a part of this record-making live broadcast from the Vatican. Alternative content delivered into movie theatres continues to be an area of growth for Microspace and our theatre partners appreciate the ease, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of the Microspace Digital Cinema system enabling this in their auditoriums, said Curt Tilly, Director of Enterprise Media, Microspace.
The broadcasting of this celebration in collaboration with the Vatican Television Center highlights the growing capacity of Microspace to impeccably deliver alternative content from around the globe to theatres across North America.
