The Bluetooth interface of the S1 Digital headset allows the pilot to hear real-time audio alerts regarding critical airspace and waypoints. This significantly improves the workflow in the cockpit as the pilot no longer needs to look away from the controls to interact with the app and view data on a tablet. All of this ensures greater safety during the flight. The introduction of automatic audio warnings with Mobile FliteDeck VFR adds a new layer of situational awareness that reduces reliance on graphical visual warnings on screen, said Tim Huegel, director, Jeppesen Aviation Portfolio Management. Paired with Sennheiser headset technology, this new sound warning capability will help private pilots remain head up' while flying, especially in critical airspace and while monitoring waypoints.
When flying in a controlled airspace or in the vicinity of one, Mobile FliteDeck VFR alerts the pilot both visually and acoustically. This function can also be used to determine route waypoints. In addition, pilots are able to choose which audio alerts they wish to receive.
Coupling the clarity and personalized noise reduction of the S1 Digital with the audio cues from Mobile FliteDeck VFR increases the pilot's confidence and comfort when flying in complex airspace. Sennheiser is proud to be associated with Jeppesen in this effort, said David Dunlap, Director Sennheiser Aviation. The Bluetooth interface to the App is just one of many advanced features of communication and comfort the S1 Digital provides.
In addition to the new audio alert functions, Jeppesen has also included automatic flight time data entry and Auto-Log functions in the app.
Sennheiser S1 Digital aviation headset
The S1 Digital is an innovative aviation headset with fully adaptive digital noise reduction. At the push of a button, the intelligent NoiseGard digital technology analyzes current ambient noise levels to achieve superior noise cancellation. The premium headset offers a high level of comfort, with adjustable headband contact pressure and a special comfort zone for glasses, a Bluetooth interface, clear voice transmission and a customizable treble boost function. The Sennheiser S1 Digital is literally a quiet revolution in the General Aviation Headsets product segment. It is a pilot headset with fully adaptive, digital noise cancellation and many features that can be adjusted by the pilot, explained David Dunlap, Director Sennheiser Aviation.
The Jeppesen Mobile FliteDeck VFR app is now available at the Apple App Store. More information about the app as well as videos and tutorials are available at www.jeppesen.com/flitedeck-vfr.
The S1 Digital headset comes complete with a carrying case, belt clip, wind and pop screen, cable clip and instruction manual. When purchased as a package with the app, pilots can use Mobile FliteDeck VFR for 18 months for the price of 349 euros.
