TCM to Celebrate Career of Actre Eva Marie Saint on March with Interview Special and ree Films-

Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will celebrate the extraordinary career of actress Eva Marie Saint with an entire night of programming Monday, March 31, beginning at 8 p.m. (ET). The evening will open with the premiere of Eva Marie Saint: Live from the TCM Classic Film Festival, a one-hour interview special hosted by TCMs Robert Osborne and taped at last years festival in Hollywood.

In addition to Eva Marie Saint: Live from the TCM Classic Film Festival, TCM will explore Saints career with presentations of three memorable films: Oscar -winner On the Waterfront (1954), Raintree Country (1957) and North by Northwest (1959).

Eva Marie Saint has had an extraordinary career spanning more than six decades so far, winning the Academy Award for her first film and co-starring with the most enviable list of co-stars of any actress of her time, including Paul Newman, Cary Grant, Marlon Brando, Montgomery Clift, James Garner, Warren Beatty, Richard Burton, Gregory Peck and Frank Sinatra, said Osborne. Shes also a wonderful storyteller and has great tales to tell.

8 p.m. - Eva Marie Saint: Live from the TCM Classic Film Festival (2014) - Premiere

9 p.m. - On the Waterfront (1954) - Directed by Elia Kazan, this powerful drama tells the story of union violence and corruption among New Jersey longshoremen. The film marked Saints film debut and earned her an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Marlon Brando also earned an Oscar for Best Actor, while Elia Kazan won for Best Director, and the film was named Best Picture.

11:30 p.m. - Eva Marie Saint: Live from the TCM Classic Film Festival (2014) - Encore

12:30a.m. - Raintree County (1957) - A New Orleans belle played by Elizabeth Taylor, lures a man (Montgomery Clift) away from his sweetheart (Eva Marie Saint) and into marriage during the Civil War. Based on the popular novel by Ross Lockridge Jr. and directed by Edward Dmytryk, Raintree County was the most expensive U.S. production MGM had ever undertaken at the time.

3:30 a.m. - North by Northwest (1959) - Alfred Hitchcocks iconic thriller of mistaken identity stars Cary Grant as an innocent man pursued across the United States by agents of a mysterious organization. Eva Marie Saint is dazzling as a woman drawn into the cat-and-mouse chase, which climaxes with a memorable sequence on the faces of Mt. Rushmore. Ernest Lehman earned one of the films three Oscar nominations for his pitch-perfect screenplay.

Eva Marie Saint is a motion picture, stage and television star without peer. Among her triumphs are the films On The Waterfront (1954), North by Northwest (1959), A Hatful of Rain (1957), Raintree County (1957), Exodus (1960), The Russians Are Coming! The Russians Are Coming! (1966), All Fall Down (1962), 36 Hours (1965), The Stalking Moon (1968), Grand Prix (1966) and Loving (1970). The names of her leading men read like a galaxy of stars: Marlon Brando, Paul Newman, Henry Fonda, Gregory Peck, Warren Beatty, Richard Burton, Burt Lancaster and Cary Grant.

Saint attended Bowling Green State University in Ohio, with the intention of becoming a school teacher. Thankfully, she changed her major to Theater Arts and the University has since dedicated the theater on campus in her name.

Saint studied at the Actors Studio in New York and began her work in live television and theatre. Elia Kazan saw her in A Trip to Bountiful on Broadway and cast her in On The Waterfront, for which she won an Academy Award . Her stage credits on Broadway, in Los Angeles and at Washington, D.C.s Kennedy Center include Summer and Smoke, Desire Under the Elms, Candida, The Rainmaker, Winesburg, Ohio; Duet for One, The Lincoln Mask, First Monday in October, The Fatal Weakness, Death of a Salesman and The Country Girl, for which she received the LA Dramalogue Award.

On television, Saint has earned five Emmy nominations for Middle of the Night (1954), by Paddy Chayefsky; the musical version of Our Town (1955), with Frank Sinatra and Paul Newman; the miniseries event How The West Was Won (1977); and Hallmark Hall of Fames Taxi!! (1978), with Martin Sheen. She won the Emmy for the miniseries People Like Us (1990) on NBC. Other TV triumphs include The Trip to Bountiful (1953), with Lillian Gish; Fatal Vision (1984), with Karl Malden; When Hell Was in Session (1979), with Hal Holbrook; The Last Days of Patton (1986), with George C. Scott; Voyage of Terror: The Achille Lauro Affair (1990), with Burt Lancaster; Time to Say Goodbye? (1997), with Richard Kiley; and My Antonia (1995), with Jason Robards.

Saints more recent films include I Dreamed of Africa (2000), Because of Winn-Dixie (2005), Dont Come Knocking (2005) and Superman Returns (2006). She also co-stars in the newly released romantic drama Winters Tale.

Saint has been married for 62 years to Jeffrey Hayden, with whom she has collaborated on many theatrical projects. They have been performing together in Love Letters and On the Divide in theatres across America. They also have two children and three grandchildren and consider them their happiest achievement.
