Legend3D, Inc., an industry pioneer in 2D to 3D conversion technology and services, today announced that Barry Sandrew, Ph.D., the company's founder, chief creative officer and chief technology officer, has been inducted to the International 3D & Advanced Imaging Society (3D Society) Board of Governors. Each year, the organization appoints distinguished industry leaders who have made significant contributions to the advancement of 3D and imaging technologies to the society board.
3D filmmaking requires expertise and mastery of both artistry and technology, and Barry brings a strong background for both to our Board of Governors, said Jim Chabin, President of the International 3D & Advanced Imaging Society. As 3D movies continue to excite fans worldwide, the Society is delighted to welcome Barry to our leadership in our global effort to build on our industrys artistic and commercial success.
As an internationally recognized visual effects pioneer and digital imaging expert with more than 14 VFX patents and 23 years of feature film and TV experience, Dr. Sandrew joins a prestigious line-up of industry innovators currently serving on the 3D Society's Board of Governors. On the Board of Governors, Dr. Sandrew will work with its esteemed group of executives to develop and implement fresh ideas aimed at advancing stereoscopic 3D arts and technology. This includes speaking at international conferences and expos, setting up and participating in industry panels and identifying and recruiting individuals to join the society, among other duties.
As someone who has dedicated a significant part of the last decade to the growth of 3D technology, joining the 3D Society Board of Governors is an extremely proud and exciting moment in my career, said Dr. Sandrew.
