La Academia de las Ciencias y las Artes de Televisi n rindi este mi rcoles homenaje al acad mico y periodista Manuel Mart n Ferrand, fallecido el pasado 30 de agosto, en un acto al que asistieron casi trescientos compa eros, familiares y amigos. El homenaje tuvo lugar en el Centro de Convenciones Mapfre de Madrid, cont con el apoyo de su viuda Rosal a Gonz lez de Haro, sus hijos Daniel, V ctor y Rosal a Mart n y con la colaboraci n de los archivos hist ricos de TVE, Antena 3 TV, la Cadena Ser y ABC.
El presidente de la Academia de Televisi n, Manuel Campo Vidal, destac en el recuerdo a Mart n Ferrand que es un honor para nosotros recordar hoy a un periodista todoterreno y uno de los impulsores de la televisi n privada en Espa a. Fue, adem s, un gran emprendedor y los emprendedores son fundamentales para cambiar la historia. Manuel Mart n Ferrand cambi el mapa de la comunicaci n en Espa a .
Nieves Herrero y Francisco Garc a Novell, coordinador del homenaje y miembro de la Junta Directiva de la Academia, fueron los conductores de un acto que realiz un detallado repaso por su trayectoria dando paso a las intervenciones de una veintena de compa eros y amigos que le acompa aron en sus diferentes etapas profesionales en prensa, radio y televisi n. Ricardo Vaca, presidente de Barlovento Comunicaci n, traz un perfil de lo que signific la figura de Mart n Ferrand en la historia de la comunicaci n en Espa a y destac que fue un profesional multimedi tico, multicanal y multisoporte. Este s es uno de los grandes .
Entre los emotivos v deos que recordaban momentos del periodista fallecido fueron sucedi ndose las intervenciones de compa eros como Elsa Gonz lez, presidenta de la FAPE, que le describi como un hombre que no pas inadvertido, un profesional de rompe y rasga que entreg el micr fono de la radio al periodista sorteando la censura. Su huella profesional merece ser objeto de estudio en la historia de nuestro periodismo por la innovaci n de vanguardia que introdujo en todos los medios durante la Transici n ; Pilar Falc n, presidenta del Club de Periodistas Gallegos del que Mart n Ferrand fue fundador ley una emotiva carta que le recordaba como representante y gloria de un periodismo a convertir en perpetuo. Contin a hoy en los que le tratamos esa lecci n de bondad que comienza con los que empiezan en la profesi n y m s en esta poca de confusi n con la independencia o Alfredo Amestoy que record sus xitos profesionales en Paseo de la Habana y sus ltimos momentos al lado de mi compa ero, mi hermano de leche, mi amigo del alma .
El equipo del informativo nocturno 24 horas, dirigido por Mart n Ferrand, y considerado un formato innovador que convirti , por primera vez, la mesa redonda en protagonista del programa, no quiso faltar al homenaje para recordar sus grandes momentos junto al maestro televisivo. En representaci n de todos subieron al estrado Elena Mart , Javier V zquez, Rafael Benedito, el escultor Jos Torres Guardia y Alfonso Ortu o. Por su parte, Jes s Hermida, quiso agradecer con unas palabras dedicadas al homenajeado su defensa de la libertad y la pluralidad en la televisi n .
Otros testimonios que destacaron el car cter innovador y la profesionalidad de del periodista fueron el de Luis ngel de la Viuda que habl de otras facetas de su gran amigo como la de poeta o gastr nomo, y destac su grandeza y generosidad: nos dio siempre a todos la palabra oportuna ; Paloma San Basilio, que debut como azafata en uno de sus primeros programas, o los hermanos Manuel y Rafael Jim nez de Parga, que dieron una clase magistral de historia de la televisi n narrando c mo fue la batalla por la televisi n privada en Espa a de la que fueron protagonistas junto a Manuel Mart n Ferrand. Recordaron emocionados su etapa al frente de Antena 3, la primera cadena de televisi n privada en Espa a, compa eros del equipo fundacional como Jos Luis Orosa, Javier Gimeno de Priede, Ram n Pradera o Jorge del Corral.
El homenaje cont tambi n con la intervenci n de Bieito Rubido, director de ABC donde trabaj como columnista hasta el final Mart n Ferrand: Quiero darle las gracias por su magisterio, por su admirable independencia y por lo que ha hecho por la historia del periodismo en este pa s .
Finalmente, su hijo y tambi n periodista, Daniel Mart n, cerr el homenaje con unas emotivas palabras dedicadas a su padre: Para l la libertad lo era todo y en el periodismo se traduc a en independencia. Fue un ser humano ejemplar y un gran hombre p blico. Espero que su espl ndida lecci n magistral de independencia, generosidad y coherencia sea recordada por todos .
