BT supercharges BT Infinity packages New Superfast BT Home Hub 5 and ultrafast FTTP speeds by end of year

BT today reaffirmed its commitment to offer an unrivalled broadband experience with the news that, later this year it will launch the BT Home Hub 5 with all of its BT Infinity packages. The BT Home Hub 5 will come complete with superfast ac Wi-Fi, 4 GigE ports and an integrated VDSL modem.

This will be hot on the heels of the BT Home Hub 4 which offers unbeatable wireless reliability compared to other major UK broadband providers' routers*. Hub 4 was the first router from a UK ISP to offer smart dual band wireless technology. This innovative technology avoids interference and delivers a reliable connection.

Hub 5 will build upon the unrivalled reliability of Hub 4 and add superfast 802.11ac Wi-Fi and 4 GigE ports so customers can further exploit the superfast speeds of BT Infinity. Additionally, the Hub 5 will come with an integrated VDSL modem meaning that BT Infinity customers will no longer need two boxes in their house.

When Hub 5 is launched it will be included in all BT Infinity packages as standard. Existing Infinity customers will be able to recontract to get a Home Hub 5 for free or will be able to buy one for a small fee. Hub 4 will continue to be offered as an inclusive part of the package with all copper broadband packages.

BT has also today confirmed that it will soon be offering an ultrafast 300Mbps Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) service for bandwidth hungry consumers. The service will initially be available within 50 exchange areas where FTTP infrastructure has been deployed to date.

The launch of the Infinity 300Mbps FTTP service will see BT offer the fastest speeds of all the major ISPs with 300Mbps downstream and 20Mbps upstream speeds. Existing FTTP customers will also be able to upgrade to the faster speeds by upgrading to the £50 Unlimited package, which comes without any usage limits and is free from traffic management.

The latest Ofcom report on broadband speeds** shows that BT's customers are getting faster speeds than ever before and that BT Infinity provides the most reliable experience. Earlier this year BT raised the stakes in the battle for broadband customers by introducing Totally Unlimited Broadband on all but its entry level offerings.

BT has launched a number of innovative services for broadband customers this year allowing them to get more from their broadband. These include BT Smart Talk, an app which allows customers the possibility of saving money on their smartphone calls by linking an iPhone or android device with their home phone calling plan. The company also launched BT Cloud, an online storage service with a free allowance for all consumer broadband customers. The service allows BT's consumer broadband customers to safely and securely back up and share their photographs, documents and videos wherever they are with an internet connection.

BT Sport is the latest innovation that broadband customers are set to benefit from when the channels launch on August 1. BT Sport will be free to all consumer BT broadband customers and will offer three channels BT Sport 1, BT Sport 2 and ESPN - packed with world class sport.
