I was on the plane home from London a few nights ago. Everyone around me was sleeping and as I lay with my eyes closed, I heard a definite call: Sue ! I looked around wondering who knew me on the plane, but all were still asleep. I thought I must have imagined it, so I lay back with closed eyes, but again I heard: Sue ! Yet still no-one! So, in my head I asked: Is this you Lord? I then heard: Feed my sheep! I was confused, asking what this meant, and I heard: tell them to break bread .

Why is it so important to break bread regularly? When He ascended, Jesus (God's Word made manifest), left us His Holy Spirit to quicken His word to us. Unless you eat of His Word, your hunger cannot be satiated. Unless you receive a personal revelation from Him, you cannot become whole and complete, lacking nothing.
Our bodies need good food regularly to stay healthy. Our souls need mental stimulation and emotional support regularly to prosper. Our Spirits need the Word of God to lead us into all truth and eternal life with Christ!
23 For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me. 25 In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me. 26 For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.
1 Corinthians 11:23-26 (NIV) As we REMEMBER HIM and His resurrection, we are reminded of the victory that is ours in Christ. We are strengthened to entrust our circumstances and our healing to Him. To walk in the authority and inheritance that His death and resurrection purchased for us.
--
As we REMEMBER HIM and His great love for us (proven by His death on the Cross), we are humbled and provoked to praise Him with genuine adoration instead of ritualistic behaviour.
As we REMEMBER HIM, we are reminded of who we are in Him. We have been given a new identity, a new standing before the Father because of our union with Him. We are cleansed, washed, sanctified, and made holy. It is a supernatural exchange!
As we REMEMBER HIM, we celebrate the fact that He was the firstborn from among the dead, and that we too will be resurrected into eternal life with Him.
--
As we REMEMBER HIM and His blood shed for us, we are strengthened to withstand the lies of the enemy (who comes to accuse and condemn), thereby overcoming fear, guilt, and shame.
As we REMEMBER HIM, we a quickened by His Spirt to embrace the fullness of life and power that are ours through Him.
As we REMEMBER HIM, our hearts start burning with passion and desire for more of Him, making us long to share Him with others, increasing our faith, hope and love.
The Cross became a new tree of life for us! He invites us to a Eucharistic celebration, a Heavenly banquet as we gather to eat from its fruits. Through the breaking of His body, He has formed an unbreakable bond with us and between us. It is the New Covenant He made with us through His blood, connecting us to a new life source.
46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favour of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
Acts 2:46-47 (NIV) Our Passover Lamb, the Bread of Life Christ, the Messiah, our Passover Lamb, has come to redeem us from sin, and cause the angel of death to pass over us.
Christ is described as the bread of life . In the Old Testament, bread was the basic food that supported life. The Israelites always kept twelve loaves of bread on the altar. Bread represented a covenant relationship with God.
Luke 22:20 (NIV) In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.
As we break bread, we become unified with Jesus, just as God the Father and He are one (John 17:21).
PRAYER Father, please convict us if ever we come to your table in an unworthy manner (1 Corinthians 11:27). We desire clean hands, pure hearts, and unity of Spirit with you dear Lord.
Continue to have mercy on us and teach us all the beautiful truths of this magnificent Covenant we pray. In Jesus name,
Amen
