BAKU, Azerbaijan (Feb. 6, 2015)-Garant Media Holding has partnered with the National Geographic Society to launch the local-language edition of National Geographic Kids magazine in Azerbaijan. The newest edition of National Geographic Kids magazine debuts with the February 2015 issue. The magazine will be available monthly on newsstands and by subscription. Konul Nasibova is the editor.
Aimed at children ages 6-12, National Geographic Kids magazine is a photo-driven publication that inspires young adventurers to explore the world around them. Each month, the magazine features colorful stories about animals, people and places, interspersed with fun puzzles, facts and figures. It also includes the popular departments Weird But True, Wild Vacation and Amazing Animals, and highlights its readers by displaying user-submitted photos.
National Geographic Kids Azerbaijan will publish content from the English-language edition and will have a similar look, but will introduce local content of interest to Azerbaijani readers.
National Geographic Kids is the second magazine in Garant Media Holding's portfolio with National Geographic, having launched National Geographic magazine in Azerbaijan in September 2014.
We've been pleased with the success of National Geographic magazine in Azerbaijan, and we're excited to now expand that partnership to include a local edition of National Geographic Kids magazine, said Terry Adamson, head of international publishing for National Geographic. Our goal with National Geographic Kids is to create a fun, accessible entry point for kids and inspire them to learn more about the world around them through rich graphics and stories. In doing so, we hope to create the next generation of explorers.
The success of National Geographic magazine in Azerbaijan clearly illustrates that there is a huge demand in our market for the type of content that only National Geographic can deliver, said Seymur Teymurov, general coordinator for Garant Media Holding. We are excited that we can now bring the same type of content to a younger generation so that our children can enjoy reading National Geographic alongside their parents.
The price for the magazine on newsstands is 3 AZN. A 12-month annual subscription costs 28 AZN and a six-month subscription is 14 AZN. Initial circulation will be 1,000 copies.
National Geographic Kids launched in the United States in 1975 as National Geographic World magazine. The Azerbaijani edition of National Geographic is the 17th local-language edition of the magazine, preceded by the Latin American digital edition in October 2014. Other local-language editions are available in Bulgaria, China, Egypt, Germany, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Slovenia, South Africa (Afrikaans and English), Spain, Turkey and the United Kingdom. National Geographic Kids has a worldwide circulation of approximately 1.7 million.
