From 15 to 23 August, Harare in Zimbabwe will host the International Images Film Festival for Women (IIFF), run by Zimbabwean women who are passionate about film. The deadline for submissions is 15 May 2014.

The theme for IIFF 2014 is Woman Alive: Woman of Heart and entries need to reflect and celebrate bold women and women who have overcome challenges and emerged stronger. Under the New Man category, films that portray men as positive role models may also be submitted.

There are a number of categories, some of which are attached to a cash prize, as follows:

Best Short Film

Best Documentary - Cash Prize $1,000

Best Other Format

Best Script

Best Cinematography

Best Actress

Best Director

Best Depiction of a Woman

Best Film - Cash prize $1,000

Audience Prize

Walter Muparutsa Prize for the Best Film in the New Man Category

Best African Film - Cash Prize $1,000

Best SADC Production - Cash Prize $1,000

Best Sound (Zim) - Cash Prize $250

Best Zimbabwean Film - Cash Prize $500

Best Zimbabwean Documentary - Cash prize $500
