PlayBox Technology Powers New HD Production and Playout Facility at First National Channel, Tajikstan 18th October 2017

Dushanbe, Tajikstan, October 18, 2017: Tajikstan's state television broadcaster, First National Channel, has chosen PlayBox Technology Neo as the core of a new production, graphics and playout facility at its studios in the Tajik capital city, Dushanbe. Supplied by Kiev-based broadcast system integrator OPTA Video, the new system forms part of a major expansion to 1080i high definition.

PlayBox Technology solutions have been operating very successfully over many years at our three sister channels, Safina TV, TV Bachoristan and TV Jahonnamo, comments First National Channel's Senior Engineer Shohruhmirzo Izmoilzoda. Our requirement was for a complete server-based scheduling, interstitials-preparation and play-to-air solution centralised into our master control room. We also needed to equip the FNC newsroom with two production channels for news story preparation plus an extra two channels for content routed to two video walls. OPTA Video partnered with us to create a fully integrated system which works very well and is popular with our production staff as well as the technical team.

We have provided a total of five PlayBox Technology servers, details OPTA Video's Head of Engineering, Sergei Korotya. These comprise two AirBox Neo playout servers in main and backup configuration, a TitleBox Neo channel branding and titling server, a CaptureBoxPro dual-channel ingest server and a ProductionAirBox Neo with four playback channels. Following installation, we performed full onsite testing and FNC staff training. Training is always a breeze with PlayBox Technology products as the technical staff appreciate the modularity and flexible scalability of Neo. Operators find the user interface highly intuitive, displaying exactly the information they need for each specific task plus the ability to access extra detail if or when required.

First National Channel (http://tvt.tj) is the state-owned television channel of Tajikistan. The successor to Shabakai 1, which was active from 1991 to 2005, it is operated by JSC Teleradiocom, First National Channel has broadcast across the nation since 2006. It is also more widely accessible via cable and internet. The channel transmits a variety of content including news, foreign and local films, serials, entertainment, analytical and public programmes. The channel's main language is Tajik, supplemented by Russian. Total audience is approximately 20 million people of whom about 9 million are in Tajikistan. The rest of First National Channel's audience is based in Russia, Afghanistan, Iran, Uzbekistan, the countries of the European Union and the USA.
