Leader Instruments to Demonstrate Latest Broadcast Test and Measurement Technology at SET Expo 04, Brazil

Leader Instruments will debut the latest version of its LV 5490 4K-capable picture and signal monitor plus the new LT 4600 multiformat video signal generator at the SET Expo 2014 exhibition in S o Paulo, August 25-27. Exhibiting on booth A06, Leader will be represented by Armando Ishimaru, Brazil Country Manager.

Interest in 4K ultra-high-definition is developing very rapidly in Brazil, Armando Ishimaru comments. Three of the World Cup games will be produced entirely in 4K by the FIFA-Sony partnership. The 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio will be a further catalyst for 4K production. This will in turn encourage consumer television receiver manufacturers to cater for this burgeoning market. The LV 5490 is the ideal tool for use in digital cinematography and television broadcasting as it can handle SD, HD and 4K in a single compact test instrument.

Leader LV 5490 SD/HD/4K picture and signal monitor

Leaders LV 5490 picture and signal monitor incorporates test-pattern generation, support for two-sample interleaved 4K image transmission and an HD-SDI output. New options include eye-pattern, jitter measurement and ITU-R BT2020 based chromaticity diagram. 8-channel Dolby-encoded audio analysis is optional. With its new pattern generator function, the LV 5490 can generate 75% and 100% color bars, limit ramps, 10-step and variable raster.

The LV 5490 allows waveform, vector and picture display to be viewed simultaneously on its 9 inch full 1920 x 1080 HD-resolution screen. Simultaneous display and overlay display of multiple SDI inputs are possible. Size and location of individual channel displays can be adjusted using a USB-connected pointing device. 4K images can be divided into upper left, upper right, lower left and lower right areas and output via as four-wire or two-wire 3G-SDI channels. The LV 5490 also has a DVI and HD-SDI rasterizing monitor output.

Optional digital audio monitoring and analysis tools include 4 x 4 channels of SDI audio de-embedding, lissajous display, surround sound display, volumetric display and Dolby decode. Up to 16 channels of de-embedded SDI audio can be output as discrete AES3 feeds.

Leader LT 4600 3G/HD/SD SDI and sync generator

The new LT 4600 is a multi-format video generator in a compact 1U half-rack size. It operates in (3G-SDI/HD-SDI/SD-SDI) format triple-rate SDI. The LT 4600 can produce test patterns, color bars such as SDI check field, a superimposed logo ID character of QVGA size and safe-area markers. Additional features analog black output for all the three SDI signal formats, plus an 48 kHz AES/EBU embedded digital audio feed synchronized to the video signal. Up to 10 operating configurations can be saved in the internal memory.

PHABRIX TAG

Leader will demonstrate new PHABRIX TAG, a hand-held instrument developed within the same form factor as the Sx range. In addition to SDI and AES generation and analysis, the TAG incorporates composite analysis and generation for regions supporting the transition between analogue and digital switchover. A small form-factor pluggable electro-optical cage has been integrated into the TAG, principally for optical infrastructure testing (single and dual SFP modules). Reference input with waveform view and a useful reference generator output have been included. AES waveform display allows visual check for levels and reference lock. Advanced audio features have also been incorporated into the TAG. PHABRIX has worked closely with Dolby to provide support for Dolby E, Dolby D and Dolby D plus.
